June 13, 2019

The community has been showing “pure love” to the Bermuda football team since they qualified for the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup footballer Lejaun Simmons said, adding that it’s a “good atmosphere going into this tournament.”

When asked what Bermuda pride means to him, Mr. Simmons said, “Bermuda pride means a lot to me. That feeling that we got after we qualified after the Dominican Republic. It was just so unimaginable.

When asked what sort of reaction he has had from people after qualifying for the Gold Cup, Mr. Simmons told Bernews, “It was just pure love, really. It’s something that we’re not used to as a national football team, because we haven’t been this successful in a while, we have been successful in the past, but now it’s a new generation and we are here to make history.”

Bermuda’s team includes Nahki Wells, Dante Leverock, Jonte Smith, Reggie Lambe, Dale Eve, Oliver Jalen Harvey, Calon Minors, Roger Lee, Kacy Milan Butterfield, Jaylon Bather, Lejaun Simmons, Donte Brangman, Chikosi Basden, Zeiko Lewis, Willie Clemons, Jahquil Hill, Osagi Bascome, Cecoy Robinson, Justin Donawa, Wendell Tre Ming, Liam Evans, Marco Warren, and Quinaceo Hunt.
