MSA Wins Point House Mural Competition
Mount Saint Agnes Academy has come out top in the Point House School Mural Project, an initiative of the Green family in partnership with the Bermuda National Gallery [BNG].
The contest, which was open to all middle schools on the island, saw teams of up to ten students paint murals on sections of wooden hoardings in Albuoys Park on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th of October. The theme of the murals was “My Bermuda”.
Mount St Agnes took home first place and a cheque for $5,000 for the school. Their mural depicted an island beach scene in the style of noted pop artist, Keith Haring, and featured a wide range of Bermudian symbols, including a Bermuda kite, longtail and Gombeys.
Second place was awarded to the Bermuda High School and the Bermuda Institute, which won both schools a cheque for $3,000. Closely behind were Sandys Secondary Middle School and Somersfield Academy in joint third place and a prize of $2,000 each.
