BBA Winter League: Twisters & Skyforce Win
Prior to the start of the Bermuda Basketball Association double header inside the CedarBridge Academy gymnasium, players, officials and spectators observed a moment of silence to pay respect to basketball superstar Kobe Bryant, who recently died in a helicopter crash at age 41.
The first game saw the Hamilton City Twisters edge the Bermuda College Flyboys 57 – 56. The Hamilton City Twisters were led by Dion Easton who scored 18 points who also grabbed 8 rebounds, to go along with 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot. The Bermuda College Flyboys got a double-double from Gershon Kurt who had 20 points and 21 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals and 4 blocked shots.
In the second game of the night, the Pembroke Skyforce sponsored by Sea Venture defeat the Southampton Thundercats by a score 63 – 37. Jason Lowe would lead the Pembroke Skyforce to victory with 19 points, while Sheldon Bahadosingh scored 6 points for the Southampton Thundercats.
