Dominica Defeat Bermuda In Basketball

The Bermuda men’s national basketball team fell 72-65 to Dominica in the final match of the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers group phase.

The opening period ended in a 14-14 tie before Bermuda established an offensive rhythm in the second quarter. Led by its backcourt play, the team outscored Dominica 20-19 in the frame to take a 34-33 lead into halftime.

Dominica responded in the third quarter with a defensive press that disrupted Bermuda’s ball movement. Dominica outscored Bermuda 19-10 during the period to take control of the game.

Bermuda attempted a comeback in the fourth quarter, outscoring Dominica 21-20, but was unable to erase the deficit before time expired.

Adam McDonald led the Bermudian scoring effort, contributing 23 points. Cameron Basden also scored in double digits for the island team, finishing with 16 points.

Defensively, Denash Davis and Malachi Scott each recorded a team-high 10 rebounds, while Leigh-Jaelen Williams added nine rebounds. Caelin Peters credited five assists for the Bermuda squad.
