TROIKA Adds Two More ‘The Wiz’ Shows
Following an overwhelming response from the Bermuda community, TROIKA Bermuda announced the addition of two performances of its production of The Wiz on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM, at the Ruth Seaton James Centre for the Performing Arts.
A spokesperson said, “The additional matinee and evening performances will provide another opportunity for audiences to experience the spectacular production, which has captivated the community with its dynamic performances, vibrant costumes, imaginative staging and extraordinary display of local talent.
“Presented as the ninth instalment of TROIKA Bermuda’s Work In Progress initiative, The Wiz brings together an exceptional company of Bermudian performers, including both emerging and established artists, in a celebration of creativity, collaboration and the performing arts.”
A spokesperson for TROIKA Bermuda commented, “We have been incredibly encouraged by the tremendous support and excitement surrounding this production. The response from the community has been truly overwhelming, and adding these performances allows us to welcome even more families, students and theatre enthusiasts to experience the magic of The Wiz. “The production features Bermudian Broadway performer Tsilala Brock in the iconic role of Dorothy and is directed by Steven S. Huntsman, with choreography by Carling Ray, vocal direction by Cristina Raé Fentress and musical arrangements and adaptations by Martin Laniel.
Celebrating Community Partnerships and Emerging Talent
“Beyond the stage, the production has also created valuable opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in the performing arts while highlighting the important contributions of local creative professionals and industry partners.
“Students from the CedarBridge Academy Cosmetology Programme, under the guidance of instructor and hair professional Vivian Millings of Impressions Hair Artistry, have been contributing to the production’s hair and wig preparation, working alongside the creative team to help bring the colourful characters of Oz to life.
“Complementing their work, the production’s makeup is being provided by the team at MAC Cosmetics from Gibbons Company under the creative direction of James Lee. The team’s artistry plays an important role in bringing the production’s imaginative characters and vibrant visual aesthetic to the stage, helping to create the distinctive looks that transport audiences into the magical world of Oz.
“These collaborations reflect TROIKA Bermuda’s ongoing commitment to engaging local talent, fostering creative partnerships and providing meaningful educational and professional development opportunities, while demonstrating the diverse range of creative and technical disciplines that contribute to a major theatrical production.”
