Fatal Accident Last Night: Carlton Darrell
The police have confirmed a 26 year old man died following a single vehicle traffic accident around 10:35pm last night [April 2] on Middle Road in Devonshire near the junction with Belvedere Road.
The Police say the details about the incident are unclear, however it appears that the rider of the motorcycle lost control and collided with a wall. The man sustained serious serious head, neck and chest injuries and was rushed to KEMH via ambulance; where he later died.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact PC Richard Geraghty on 295-0011.
This marks the second tragedy to befall Bermuda on the Good Friday holiday, as the accident occurred only hours after the daylight murder of Kimwandae Walker at Victor Scott school field.
The police have yet to confirm his identity, but he has unofficially been named as Carlton “CJ” Darrell. There has been a Facebook group “RIP CJ” launched for the victim, which as of this writing already had 69 members swiftly after the launch.
Update April 4: Police confirm his identity.
This the third road traffic fatality of 2010:
- 23 year old Dareiko Simons died on January 9 after his bike collided with a car in Sandys.
- 21 year old heart transplant survivor Earl Ingemann died after a Jan 1st car crash in St. George’s.
