Ag Show Photos: Parks Department & Security
This may not the most glamorous of our Ag Show photo gallery sets, but certainly one of the most important. The workers from the Department of Parks put in extensive effort to prepare for the three day event hosted each year at Botanical Gardens. Their tireless behind the scenes efforts are a large part of the success the annual event enjoys each year.
As one worker explained to us, for Parks Workers the Ag Show is almost a full year event as they spend so long preparing for it, and post event must spend extensive time fixing the grounds from the tens of thousands of people/booths/events that came through.
This year there had been a previous dispute over lack of overtime pay for the Ag Show which resulted in workers going on strike, and eventually accepting time in lieu instead of overtime pay. Extra security measures were in place this year, following an upsurge in crime and discomfort amongst members of the public.
