Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Car
An unidentified man died after being struck by a car while he was walking along North Shore Road at around 1:15am today [Apr 17].
The driver of the car, who remained at the scene, is a 27 year old Hamilton Parish man. He was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and causing death by dangerous driving.
As of this writing, the police say the name of the male pedestrian is unknown.
The police are trying to identify the man, who is described as:
- Dark skinned
- Stocky build
- Approximately 30 – 50 years old
- Wearing a black hooded jacket, beige/khaki pants and new black & white Adidas sneakers
The accident occurred on North Shore Road in Devonshire near the Mid Atlantic Boat Club.
Update April 21: Victim identified as 41 yr old footballer Andre Hendrickson.

Details about how the collision occurred are unclear; however the Police say it appears that the man was walking along North Shore Road when he was struck by the car, which was traveling towards Somerset.
The gentleman sustained serious injuries and was rushed to KEMH via ambulance, but subsequently succumbed to those injuries.
Police are investigating the matter, and are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information on the identity of the victim to contact Police on 295-0011.
This the fourth road traffic fatality of 2010, and the second for the month of April:
- 26 yr old Carlton Darrell died on April 2nd after a single vehicle accident in Devonshire
- 23 year old Dareiko Simons died on January 9 after his bike collided with a car in Sandys.
- 21 year old heart transplant survivor Earl Ingemann died after a Jan 1st car crash in St. George’s.
