Photos: Rise Above Family Fun Day
Community action group Rise Above Bermuda held a Family Fun Day at Victor Scott School field from 2-7pm on Sunday, April 18th. The event was prompted by the tragic murder of Kimwandae Walker at the same field during Good Friday kite flying celebrations on April 2. Mr Walker was murdered in broad daylight in front of numerous people and children, including his own.
The event was well attended and enjoyed by all. Some of Bermuda’s politicians came out, and Senator Michael Dunkley donated refreshments. There were free baked goods available, along with Easter eggs and Easter baskets, which were used as prizes for running races. The races were mostly for the children, with one adult race taking place in which two well know local personalities battled for last place.
Attendees were treated to an excellent performance by the Pembroke Youth Centre Drum Corps, and kids were thrilled by being taken for rides on the back of motorcycles of members of the Bermuda Longriders.
Rise Above seeks to assist in decreasing crime in Bermuda, and help to uplift society. If you are interested in getting involved, please visit Riseabovebermuda.org
