Bermuda Fire Service: Four Minute Response

May 19, 2010

Following a car fire recently, the residents of the area all spoke enthusiastically about how quickly the Bermuda Fire Service responded to a call, and what an excellent job they did. We checked with the Fire Service about the incident and found out they responded in only four minutes.

An abandoned Subaru 1800 was on fire on Saturday May 8th afternoon, and area residents told us they called 911, and firefighters literally seemed to appear minutes later. We happened to be in the area ourselves when the fire started, and can confirm the extremely quick appearance of firefighters.

The Fire Sevice said they received a report at approximately 1pm saying two cars were fully involved in fire, and that the Bermuda Fire Service responded with 1 fire appliance, 1 support unit – 6 personnel and arrived on scene at approximately 1:04pm. They further said two firefighters in breathing apparatus contained the fire and fully extinguished it in approx seven minutes. They are still investigating the matter.
