House Fire: Anchorage Lane St George’s
At around midnight today [June 6] there was a fire at an Anchorage Lane, St George’s residence. Multiple fire trucks, firefighters as well as Police responded.
We have limited details at this juncture, but understand there was a fair amount of smoke and smoke damage, and that no one was seriously injured in the fire. We hope to update this post with official information from the Bermuda Fire Service as early as we can, which will likely be Monday. Update June 6: Official information from the Bermuda Fire Service:
Fire Dispatch received a 911 call at 2342 hours reporting a fire in a lower unit of a 2 storey residential dwelling at #6 Anchorage Lane, St. George. Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded with 3 fire appliances, 3 support vehicles and 14 personnel.
The first fire appliance arrived on scene at 2352 to discover that the fire was contained to a closet in a lower apartment. Two firefighters in breathing apparatus totally extinguished the fire in approximately 11 minutes. The closet and its contents were totally destroyed. There was also severe heat and smoke damage throughout the apartment.
There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
