80 Yr Old Skipper Ingham Claims 5th in USA
Continuing a decades long competitive career that has seen him win numerous awards, 80-year-old Frederick “Skipper” Ingham claimed a 5th place at yesterday’s [July 10] US Open Karate Championships in Orlando, Florida in forms among men over 50. Mr Ingham is pictured below [center] with second and first place winners of the over 50 division.
The top rated NASKA event seeds four competitors from among its members, and as a nonmember Mr. Ingham predicted that his highest possible placement would be fifth. Mr. Ingham was at the event with his senior student in Bermuda, Gladwin ““Roots” Phillips.
[Editors note: Due to another media outlet reporting a different placing, we re-confirmed that Mr. Ingham did in fact place 5th.]
