Photos: Cup Match Security This Morning
At 7:30am this morning [July 29] a full range of security measures were in place at Somerset Cricket Club. The Police had stated that strengthened security measures would be taken for this year’s Cup Match including; full firearms team response capability, two CCTV cameras deployed to record all vehicle numbers, additional CCTV cameras, and that everyone entering would be subjected to passing through scanners and that all their bags would be subject to search.
The Police Mobile Command Unit is stationed in the back of Somerset Cricket Club. The Unit has been described as a “mini headquarters”, and contains things including communication devices and conference space:
Below shows what appeared to be in excess of twenty Police officers amassed by the Mobile Command Unit at 7:30am this morning outside Somerset Cricket Club:
We saw at least two walk-through metal detectors in place:
We saw approximately eight security guards at one entrance gate, and they were scanning entrants with metal detector wands prior to them entering the grounds:
