Two Men Alleged To Have Molested A 5 Yr Old
ZBM has reported that two men are out on Police bail after being arrested in connection with sexual abuse of a minor.Their report said that the 5 year old girl was lured away by two men and allegedly assaulted less then 200 metres from her home.
They quote the little girl’s father as saying “the light has gone out of his little girl’s eyes”, and pleaded with the community to come forward with any information.
ZBM continued on to say that the men are “believed to be making their way back from the nearby Mid Atlantic Wellness Institute” and that they took the child to a nearby washroom where she was sexually assaulted.
The Bermuda Police Service has confirmed with us that two men have been arrested in connection, and have since been released on Police bail.
This island disgusts me beyond words!!!! How is it that a law was just passed were you can’t even license your car if you have unpaid parking tickets yet laws regarding sexual abuse-RAPE of children hasn’t changed? Are you f***ing kidding me? Seriously?! How many times is this going to happen before we change these laws and have these animals get mandatory life sentences? First offence or not, anyone who would rape a child once will do it again. I dont want to hear that they have a mental illness either BS!
This happens time and time again and no one steps up to say anything or do anything. I read it in the RG all the time and these guys get slaps on the wrist. A grown man sleeping with a 12 year old gets 6 months but a mother of 4 who stole money to feed her family in this grossly expensive country gets 2 years? What is going on? Then you wonder why people take justice into their own hands.

This story broke my heart. There is a special place in hell reserved for people that do this kind of thing. I hope that anyone with information about this comes forward. We need to protect our children.
The law makers and law enforcers on this Island are a big joke. How the hell do you let out two alleged rapist on police bail, why are they not charged with rape. I’ll tell you why, it’s because this kind of a crime is not considered serious because the law maker won’t make tough penalties that will come back and bite them. This is totally unacceptable. This is what you all should be marching on parliament for, so these predictors can be locked away for good.
Anyone seen A Time To Kill? This movie came to mind when I heard this story! It makes me think that we need to look at who resides/utilizes Mid Atlantic Wellness Institute. I have heard that they allow people living “rough” to clean up there, eat etc. So it shouldn’t be blamed on mental illness as I think this horrific act was committed by someone EVIL plain and simple!

First, let’s pray for the girl and her family amidst this horrifying trauma. Next, let’s get the facts, and demand justice. The news media had better release the names of the abusers, as well as any details if these evil men were connected to MWI. Someone must pay for this!
Forget marching on parliament to save Hamilton…how about we march on parliament to show government that crimes against children WILL NOT be tolerated, and demand real justice. Bermuda, where are our priorities???? Bond sales and cell phone driving bans are easy. Bermuda must focus on what really matters: families, children, unity, and justice. Until then, these rapists had better find a witness protection program as good as Alvone Maybury’s.

I’ve had to not let through some threatening comments, so just wanted to mention that I realize the thought of a child being being subjected to abuse of this nature [rightfully] has people, including me, amped right up but we have to watch legal issues due to potential liability, civil and criminal.
It is extremely shakey legal grounds if anyone is said to be guilty when not proven and threatening violence against people carries the obvious legal issues….

There needs to be a sex offenders list in Bermuda. I understand that this island is small but still there needs to be something done. How is it that this island protects criminals by not letting us know who these monsters are. They could be our next door neighbors, our co workers, our childrens friends parents. There needs to be something done and done now. I don’t agree with having them on day release either. Come one that’s giving them a reason to go out and try to do it again.
All these emotions are comming out only because of current affairs in Bermuda. Whether real or perceived.
The island is in a whirlpool of emotion with regards to all things happening.
Us, as viewers have no clue as what happened.

This crime is unexceptable. I pray that child’s father holds her and tells her, he loves her and speaks peace into her soul. She can overcome in time but she now needs to be taught to scream loud when a stranger approcahes you. She need to lean that was a bad touch by a bad person. I will pray the family’s strength.
The problem is that majority of people believe that everyone can be “fixed”. However, statistically the people who molest will NEVER be “normal” and are repeat offenders! Therefore the community must be equiped to deal with predators. The police wear bullet proof vests when they are in danger situations so I wanna know why our children can’t be appropriately protected!

Was she alone?
If she was, why.
Visiting relatives?
Walking to the store? If so why.

@Terry: I am not Bermudian. What’s your point with these questions? The early posts show anger and frustration with what people see as the status quo. People are also venting on an alleged child molestation case, which by nature, brings out high emotions.
As far as molesting a child:
-It does not matter if she was alone
-It does not matter if she was visiting relatives
-It does not matter if she walking to the store
I believe that, in displaying anger and frustration, one needs to look at the greater good positively (Without viral threats).
Ro, I couldn’t agree with you more! Those questions have no relevance to this matter. It wouldn’t even matter if the child was totally naked in front of these freaks. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR ANYONE TO MOLEST A CHILD. God help her and her family to be strong through this and find the right path to help. And…I am Bermudian for what it’s worth.

first of all I have two children that stayed in the same area where this incident occurred and yes there are some questions like the ones you stated that came into my mind because of the layout of the surrounding properties. REGARDLESS of why the child was alone she is still a CHILD and those two A..H…. need to pay for what they have done to that little girlif they did it because it could have easily have been anyones child. My heart goes out to that little girl and her family

Who the hell are we to judge. They are on police bail. When they are charged and a trial is called then the facts will come forward. Until then, it is mere speculation.

Wow….unbelievable..yet another heated debate because we don’t agree…everyone is entitled to their own opinion be it right or wrong…..I am going to state my opinion and I could care less what anybody thinks…for the love of Jesus that little girl was playing in HER neighborhood……these two individuals were leaving an area nearby..hence they are the outsiders…it doesn’t matter if she was visiting a relative, going shopping etc..the point of the matter is the FACT that she was assaulted…please someone explain to me why are they out on bail in less than a 24 hour period????? IF they in fact are guilty of violating her than they need to pay….If her father was to take the law into his own hands and deal with them himself then everyone would think that he is wrong (I wouldn’t)….. @ Terry all I can say is wow!!!! My prayers and thoughts are with this family and I pray that the father stands behind his daughter and supports her to the very end…I would not wish this on any family to have to deal with something of this magnitude… a little girls innocence gone forever…prayers and may you find peace through all of this……..
I think it is time to rethink a “name and shame” approach regarding the repeat perpetrators of molestation and sexual assault on children if the perpetrator is found to be guilty and the parents or guardians of the children agree. We must protect our children from these predators!
