Car Impounded After Driver Flees Collision

Following an accident on Saturday night [Aug 28] in which one of the drivers left the scene, the Bermuda Police located the car, and subsequently impounded the vehicle.

Around 11pm on Saturday night, Police received a report of a two car collision resulting in injury near the junction of Roberts Avenue and Parsons Road in Devonshire. The Police say that it appears that the cars were traveling in opposite directions on Roberts Avenue when they collided.

One car left the scene following the collision and was subsequently located by officers unattended and impounded.

The driver of the other car, a 32 year old Hamilton parish woman, sustained a laceration to her right knee while her passenger, a 31 year old Warwick woman, suffered pain to her chest. Both women were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. The car they were in received extensive front end damage.

Inquiries into this incident are underway and Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision or anyone with any information to contact PC Chiquita Simmons or PC Albert Williams on 295-0011.
