Delays Crossing The Causeway This Morning

September 22, 2010

There appears to be huge delays for our East Enders in crossing over the Causeway this morning [Sept 22]. The photos below were taken 8:15 this morning on the roads leading up to the Causeway, where the fact there is only one lane operational is reported to be causing a massive backlog of traffic.

We understand traffic came to a near stand still on Kindley Field Road as delays were experienced caused by the erected traffic lights on the Causeway. Cars, trucks and buses could be seen backed up as far as east of the St David’s round-a-bout and as far as Swizzle Inn on the western side. Police soon took control of the flow of traffic, and it began to move a little quicker.

  1. Late for school and work! says:

I blame the Police and W&E for not planning this through. We know there are 2 flights in the morning. We know from yesterday there were delays during the day and more during morning and evening commutes. We know that it would be heavier traffic due to schools going back in today.

There was an Police officer on the bridge who had a radio. I left home at 7:20am and the traffic was already backed up past stonecrusher corner. It shouldn’t take an hour to get 2 police officers with radios to direct traffic. It could have been 2 W&E personel with lollipops directing traffic.

Hopefully, they have officers directing traffic from 4:30pm till 6:30pm and tomorrow morning from 7am till 9am whilst the causeway is restricted to one lane.
