Pink Bermuda Street Cars In Canada
Pink coloured street cars are now visible in parts of Canada as a part of the Bermuda Department of Tourism (BDOT) latest promotional launch in Canada, For the past several months Canada has been a major focus for the Bermuda Department of Tourism (BDOT).
First was the launch of the direct WestJet service in May and last month, the BDOT carried out a successful outreach initiative when they hosted a luncheon for several members of some of Canada’s most influential media outlets.
This week, the BDOT rolled out two street cars wrapped in bright pink Bermuda signage as part of their ongoing efforts to raise awareness in this important gateway market.
Tourism Director William Griffith said today, “This is all part of our strategy to ramp up awareness about Bermuda in Canada. We are looking to grow this market and in order to do that we need to ensure that we’re engaging in some innovative methods which will set us apart from other vacation destinations.”
Mr. Griffith continued, “From September to November these bright pink double-decker street cars will be positioned daily in high-traffic locations. When Canadians see these trolleys, we want them to not only think Bermuda, but we want to compel them to book a vacation to the Island. So we are thrilled about this promotional initiative.”
This week’s street car display is being launched in advance of an upcoming Canadian “Road Show” slated for September 13 – 16. The Road Show will see local hoteliers and partners descend on the Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal markets, and target travel agents and tour operators.
This latest marketing event follows the pink taxis in London earlier this year and the Love Truck display in New York this past summer.

Where, specifically, do these street cars run? It doesn’t say in the story and, one would assume, that this is because it’s not in the press release.
What “high-traffic areas” are we talking about and do they fit the profile of customer we need?
Sorry, we should have added that….they`re in Toronto. Exactly what specific area within Toronto, we don`t know…
The street car displayed (rt 512) runs along St Clair, which is a main road crossing North Toronto. – http://www3.ttc.ca/Routes/512/Map.jsp
It doesn’t reach central Toronto or the financial district, but it does go through some middle class residential areas. And it does intersect the subway, especially at Younge which makes it an access route in and out of the centre.
Thanks! Very informative…
I live in the heart of Downtown Toronto & have not seen one yet…
St Clair route does have a lot of middle to lower income families so I’m not sure if that is the right market to advertize to. Consider this a week’s all inclusive to Mexico/Cuba is usually $cdn800 vs Bermuda which costs min cdn$1000 for 5 days and not all inclusive… just something to think about.
Cheers!
