2010 Round The Island Postponed…..Again
The weather forecast continues to be completely uncooperative, now forcing the cancellation of the 2010 Around the Island Race for the third time. The next date for the race, which will make the fourth attempt, will be Sunday, September 12th, 2010.
The race was scheduled for this coming Sunday (Sept 5), after being cancelled twice before. It was originally been scheduled for August 15, called off due to the weather, and then expected to take place on Aug 29th, which was again called off due to the weather.
The Bermuda Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm warning for this weekend due to Tropical Storm Fiona churning away in the Atlantic, which is now about 550 miles off Bermuda. Previous warnings due to Tropical Storm Colin and Hurricane Danielle forced the cancellation of the last two Around the Island races.
The course of the popular annual race was scheduled to encompass the following areas; Ferry Reach, North Shore, Two Rock Passage, Hamilton Harbour, Granaway Deep, Port Royal Bay, Great Sound, Commissioner’s Point, Fort St. Catherine’s Point and St. David’s.
Someone up there doesn’t want this race to happen!
Surely you jest Adrian.
