Surge of Daylight Firearm Incidents – 87%
During the last 5 weeks, approximately 87.5% of firearm incidents have occurred during daylight hours, with gang associates telling Bernews the reason for the surge in daylight shootings is as some gang members are “staying low” after nightfall due to safety considerations.
Yesterday alone we saw two daylight firearm incidents, last month we saw three daylight incidents also in one day, and the last four people that have been shot – were shot during daylight hours.
Firearm incidents in the last 5 weeks include:
- October 26 – 1:00pm - two separate reports of firearm incidents, one on Angle Street, one on Mount Hill. Both occurred at approximately 1pm.
- October 4 – 10:30am – Jeremiah Dill was shot on Parsons Road. He was treated and released from the hospital on the same day.
- September 23 – 5:30pm: David Godwin was shot in the St Monicas Mission area. Mr Godwin recuperated, and two men have been charged with the crime.
- September 23 – 11:40am – Two men on a motorcycle brandished a gun on Court Street, no one was injured.
- September 23 -11:34am – Gunmen fired into a car on North Shore in the area of First Church of God in Pembroke, no one was injured.
- September 20 – 5:30pm – Two men were shot while riding a bike through Friswells Hill
The only reported firearm incident in this timespan that did not occur during daylight hours was on October 17th, when at around 3:40am there was a confirmed firearm incident in Sandy’s parish. No one was injured.
Bernews is told by various gang members that some who believe they may be targeted will often head home once the sun falls. One gentleman, a known gang member who was shot earlier this year during the very late evening, told us that he specifically avoids coming out after nightfall, saying as soon as night comes, he “locks himself inside,” and will generally not come out for any reason.
This is also indicated on the streets, as some of some known gang areas are now visibly quieter during nightfall – in comparison to months and years past.
A gang associate summed up the perspective of those involved in the dangerous and damaging lifestyle saying, “Guys have switched up. It’s an sign of the times. Times are more dangerous, so you go low.”
I guess they’ve given themselves curfews. How nice of them while they f*ck up this beautiful island and MY HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“September 20 – 5:30pm – Two men were shot while riding a bike through Friswells Hill”
These gunmen are very good at tracking and their aim isn’t half bad either. Sounds like Regiment training to me.
“gang associates telling Bernews the reason for the surge in daylight shootings is as some gang members are “staying low” after nightfall due to safety considerations”
LOL Safety considerations!!!!
Oh so now they’re looking out for their safety. Well what about the residents of Bermuda’s safety. I guess none of their dumb behinds have sat back and thought if we change our actions then nobody would have to consider safety because everyone would be safe.
So us normal joes need to start walking around with armour during the day, in case some ass decided to go on a daytime shooting spree?
Too dumb to realise that the lifestyle they have chosen has not brought them the “good life” they thought. They can’t go out after sun down and they can’t even go where ever they want during the day….and many of them can’t even travel to the U.S…sounds like bondage to me! all as a result of weak minded and corrupt choices!so basically they now have no more life until the day that they have no more life.
