October 27, 2010

On Monday October 25th, two female tourists were injured in two separate road accidents. Both ladies, aged 60 and 61, were riding rental cycles at the time and received non life threatening injuries.

The first occurred around 1:30pm on Monday near the junction of North Shore Road and Blackwatch Pass in Pembroke involving a bus, and a rental cycle being driven by a 61 year old American woman. The rental cycle was extensively damaged while the bus received moderate damage.

The next one occurred around 90 minutes later on Burnt House Hill in Warwick. The Police say the accident involved only the single vehicle, and the rider of the rental cycle, a 60 year old American woman, appeared to have lost control. The rental cycle received minor front end damage.

I hate how the busses just pull out of gate. Some people don’t even put on their indicator. They just pull out and expect people to stop on demand. How i see it is busses are just another vehicle on the road. They should wait to come on the road just like any other vehicle.

And some of these tourist have no clue what they are doing. I think if you go slow or yo don’t know how to ride too good you need to stay on the side of the road so other people can pass you easily.

The sign on the back of the bus clearly says “give way” and even if you can’t read the symbol clearly indicates the same!
