Trenching Work: Weekend Road Closures
The City of Hamilton today announced that in order to minimize disruption to the commuters during the week, a number of road closures will take place this weekend while trenching work continues on Reid Street.
Starting on the evening of Friday October 15 from, 7:00pm through to the evening of Sunday October 17, 2010 at 7:00pm, King Street between Church Street and Spurling’s Hill will be reduced to one lane of traffic for commuters leaving Hamilton. Reid Street, Cavendish Road and Spurling’s Hill will all be accessible to traffic traveling out of Hamilton from King Street.
Reid Street, between King and Court Streets, will be accessible to businesses and emergency vehicles from King Street.
The following streets will be closed to traffic from Friday evening starting at 7:00pm:
- King Street between Reid and Front Streets access will be available to businesses from Front Street only.
- Spurling’s Hill from East Broadway for all westbound traffic.
- Cavendish Road will be closed to westbound traffic between Cavendish Road parking lot and Shelton Road, except for local access. Traffic traveling into Hamilton along Middle Road should divert at Shelton Road, Montpelier Road or Cork Screw Hill.
On Saturday October 16, the following streets will be affected by the trenching work:
- Southbound traffic on King Street will be able to proceed onto Reid Street (both east and west) and also continue on to Front Street between 7:00am Saturday morning until Sunday evening at 7:00pm.
- Spurling’s Hill will be closed to traffic, however East Broadway will be accessible via King Street.
- Cavendish Road to remain closed to all westbound traffic, eastbound will still have access.
On Sunday October 17, the following streets will be impacted:
- Southbound traffic on King Street will be able to proceed onto Reid Street (both east and west) and also continue on to Front Street from 7:00am Saturday morning until Sunday evening at 7:00pm.
- Spurling’s Hill will be closed to all traffic until 7:00pm and Cavendish Road will remain closed to all westbound traffic until 7:00pm although eastbound traffic will have access.
- Information about these traffic changes will be available on the City of Hamilton website at www.cityhall.bm.
- The City of Hamilton apologises to the public for the inconvenience caused.
