CBS Travel Editor Broadcasts from Bermuda
Peter Greenberg, one of America’s most recognised and respected front-line travel news journalist, was in Bermuda at the weekend [Nov.13] hosting his nationally syndicated radio show from the Fairmont Southampton Hotel.
The Travel Editor for “CBS News” who appears on “The Early Show” and ”The Evening News with Katie Couric”, his “Peter Greenberg Worldwide” radio show, broadcast each week from a different remote location around the world. The live, three-hour weekly radio programme and a daily short-form travel feature are syndicated by Westwood One and heard on a combined 400-plus stations.
Mr. Greenberg spoke to a wide cross-section of Bermudians about the island and its world-class amenties. Guests on his show ranged from Triangle Diving’s Graham Maddocks, who explained why our reefs constitute the wreck-diving capital of the Atlantic, to veteran local journalist Charles Webb, travel writer David LaHuta and Lili Bermuda perfumery owner Isabelle Ramsey-Brackstone.
Mr. Maddocks told a bemused Mr. Greenberg his favourite Bermuda shipwreck was the “Iristo”, a 250-foot Norwegian freighter which sank off the island in 1937. ”It even has some fire engines on top,” said the dive industry veteran. “Fire engines and a steam roller. It has a beautiful A-frame steam engine, which is quite rare. It sits in about 50 feet of water, but it’s untouched.”
