At last Friday’s Throne Speech Press Conference, the Education Minister expressed that she was “pleased” about the additions to the CedarBridge Board, and she expressed the hope that the public would also embrace the new members.
She said, “The combination of youth and experience which the CedarBridge Board as a whole represents is further enhanced by the addition of six individuals who span a cross section of the community.
However, Minister Smith noted, they all have one thing in common – “the will to ensure that Bermuda’s students receive the critical attention and support they need and deserve”.
Minister Smith said, “Each one of the current board members have a deep passion for education and young people; additionally, each bring their own unique strengths and ideas to the table.
“All have told me that they are eagerly looking forward to rolling up their sleeves and doing the work that needs to be done on behalf of CedarBridge students.
“Indeed, there is much work to be done in our public education system, and their spirit of teamwork will be reflected throughout the system.”
The appointments of the new CedarBridge Board members takes immediate effect.
I would like to congratulate Mr. Fanon Khaldun and the rest of the new appointed Board. I wish them much success.
Although some of these people seem qualified to be on the board from a management and financial position, there seems to be a huge gap in the board of people that understand the education system. Corporate world and Academia are very different places. Perhaps someone with an education back-ground could have been a huge benefit on the board.
