Swan: UBP Shadow Cabinet & More

November 5, 2010

[Written by Kim.Swan, Leader of the Opposition] Today I made a few changes in the leadership of the United Bermuda Party by making Deputy Leader Mr. Trevor Moniz House Leader and Mrs. Jeanne Atherden Senate Leader.

Mr. Moniz and I have worked closely together. He is an excellent political strategist and I look forward to him sinking his teeth into this new role.

Mr. Cole Simons will retain his role as Whip whilst taking on a new portfolio of Tourism and Business Development.

The changes in the Senate are intended to broaden responsibilities of our Senate team. For the past two years, the team has been ably and energetically led by Senator Dunkley while shouldering an extremely heavy burden as chief spokesman for multiple ministries.

I asked Senator Atherden to step forward to the Senate leadership and Sen. Dunkley to focus exclusively on National Security because it is the single most pressing issue for the people of Bermuda.

Senator Atherden, who has now served as a Senator for the past two years, brings strong leadership skills to the table. She is the Party Chairman and this appointment puts the aims and objectives of the party at the forefront. We look forward to her taking on this new role of which she will bring a new dynamic as we move forward.

The new Shadow Cabinet is as follows:

House of Assembly

  • * Kim Swan – Party Leader, Shadow Minister of Environment, Planning, Infrastructure Support
  • * Trevor Moniz – Deputy Party & House Leader, Shadow Attorney General & Shadow Justice Minister
  • * Dr. Grant Gibbons – Shadow Minister of Education

  • * Bob Richards – Shadow Minister of Finance
  • * Pat Gordon – Pamplin – Shadow Minister of Public Works & Public Accounts Controls

  1. Dragging A Lure says:

    To the UBP supporters,
The following quote was presented on November 1st. by the Opposition Leader Kim Swan in reference to the PLP reshuffled cabinet.
“Unfortunately, today’s Cabinet shuffle will not give Bermuda the change it needs. This is the same tired group that has presided over a period of unprecedented national decline.”
Today Dragging, has conformed to new principals and ideals. I’m taking this opportunity to congratulate The Opposition Leader for adding new and energetic members to his revised Shadow Cabinet. It is a pleasure to see new faces and personalities that have been selected to the new posts in comparison to the previous Shadow Cabinet.

    Enjoy the weekend
