Nahki Wells To Sign With UK’s Carlisle

December 21, 2010

nahki wells footballBermudian footballer Nahki Wells has landed a contract with English League One club Carlisle United following two trials with the Cumbrians. The Bermuda international will sign a short-term contract which will see him playing at Brunton Park through at least the end of this season on New Year’s Day.

The 19-year-old former Dandy Town star also attracted the attention of professional clubs Hull and Ipswich Town when he attended the International Academic & Soccer Academy in the UK earlier this year.

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott said: “Nahki has spent a bit of time with us and has done well, but with the weather and his commitments with his studies we haven’t quite been able to see him as much as we would have liked. Having said that, he has shown us an excellent attitude and has demonstrated he has a bit of quality, so we’ve decided to bring him back so that we can take a much longer look at him.

“He definitely has quality, but the idea is that we’ll get him here and see whether he can progress to become better than what we already have.

“The challenge for him now is to come here, work with us full-time and show us what he can really do.”
