December 6, 2010

dec 2010 writingThe Chewstick Foundation will be producing a 3-part series on song-writing, starting December 12th, 2010. This series of seminars will be hosted by Richard Basset, President and Founder of the Bermuda Songwriters’ Association. Richard Basset is an award winning Songwriter, President of Renascent Music Publishing; he resides in Bermuda, writes with co-writers in Los Angeles & Nashville, and places songs with Recording Artists, Artist Managers, Music Supervisors and Music Producers.

Seminar offerings include fundamentals of hit song-writing and will include an overview of successful song writing techniques and strategies used by classic songwriters and modern masters from a variety of genres. Chewstick says that “Songwriter’s of all ages, and all genre interests can benefit, from the seminars. The Foundation simply asks that you come with an open-mind and a willingness to participate. No song writingp skills or vocal skills necessary, but an ability to play an instrument or sing would be an asset. These seminars will be dynamic and engaging; the first covers song structure and technique, followed by a seminar giving an overview of artists’ rights, and how to protect your song. The last of the series will be a working session, which will task participants with writing a song in the session. ”

The seminars, held in conjunction with the Bermuda Songwriters’ Association, will take place at The Chewstick Foundation Headquarters, on the corner of Elliot Street and Court Street. Each seminar is only $30.00 and $25.00 each if you sign up for all three. Advance payment can be made at Chewstick Headquarters between 1pm and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Space is limited so sign-up early. For more information call 292-2439 (CHEW) or email info@chewstick.com.
