Police Report: Man Arrested After Robbery

A 20 year old man was arrested in connection with an incident in which a 25 year old man was robbed by three men Angle Street early this morning [Jan 14].

A Police spokesman said “At 1:15am on Friday, Police responded to a report of a robbery. It appears that the victim, a 25 year old Sandys parish man, was walking along Angle Street in Pembroke near the junction with Brunswick Street when he was accosted by three men. The assailants fled the scene after taking a quantity of cash from the victim, who was apparently uninjured. A 20 year old Sandys parish man was subsequently arrested in connection with this incident. Inquiries are ongoing. Any witnesses or anyone with any information about this matter is encouraged to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.”

In addition Police report a number of burglaries from yesterday:

Around 8pm on Thursday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Beulah Lane, Sandys parish residence. It appears that sometime between 1pm and 3pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into the home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash.

Around 11:25am on Thursday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Scott’s Hill Road, Sandys parish residence. It appears that sometime between 7:50am and 11am that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into the home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a men’s watch.

At 10:55am on Thursday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Primary Lane, Sandys parish residence. It appears that sometime between 8am and 10:30am that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into the home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash.

Around 9:20am on Thursday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Westwood Lane, Paget residence. It appears that sometime on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 an unknown culprit gained entry into the home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash and jewelry.

Police inquiries into all incidents are underway, and the Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the public to remain vigilant regarding burglaries.
