February 24, 2011

caricomLt.Col. David Burch, Minister of National Security, along with Mrs. Judith Hall-Bean, Assistant Cabinet Secretary, have been delegated to attend the Twenty-Second Inter-Sessional Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community [CARICOM] under the Chairmanship of the Hon. Tillman Thomas, Prime Minister of Grenada in Grand Anse, St. George, Grenada on February 25th and 26th, 2011.

The Conference of Heads of Government consists of the Heads of Government of the CARICOM Member States. It determines and provides policy direction for the Caribbean Community.

The Agenda for this meeting is formulated based on mandates from the Conference and other issues approved as a result of the recent Caribbean Community Council meeting on 17 January 2011. Of particular interest to Bermuda will be a Sustainability Proposal from the Council of Ministers for National Security and Law Enforcement (CONSLE), of which Minister Burch is a member, for financing the Crime and Security Agenda. Critical issues in the area of health and human development are also on the agenda to be discussed.

The Government of Grenada will provide complimentary accommodation during the period 24-26 February, for all Heads of Government/Delegation of Member States and Associate Members of the Community.

A Government spokesperson said: “As an Associate Member State, it is anticipated that attendance by Minister Burch and Assistant Cabinet Secretary Hall-Bean will provide Bermuda with invaluable insight on the way forward for the Caribbean Community as a whole as well as an open arena for information sharing.”

    NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

    • Black Soil says:

This sort of sh!t should have been cut from the budget. The PLP are so out of touch with the needs of Bermuda.

    • Cleancut says:

Not really, i guess when the TA Col. returns to Bermuda we will have a six part series on ZBM each night promoting you know who.

  2. Terry says:

@Chart. Your correct to a degree.

I make that statement with regard to your “Chart”. Bermuda is knowhere near the Caribbean whether it’s longitude/latitude. The only connection/s we have is with our history and ancestorial backgrounds which are very colourfull and deep.

And yes, Bermuda is an Associate Member State.

The Minister needs to spend more time on the home front.

    • mixitup says:

Bermuda is no where near anywhere Terry, but the deep ancestoral link erases and Lat or Long. furthurmore, if Bermudas social fabric is like any place in the world, its like our Caricom brothers/sisters. I have no problem with having a rep. keeping that link intact and learning from their errors while sharing our successes.

  3. Truth is killin' me... says:

TAKE money from Bermuda…and nothing in return!!!

  4. Short-sighted says:

    He is taking money away?!?!

i don’t see the planes going back and forth with only guest workers. We are complaining about spending but we continue with our usual trips taking bermuda money to the USA.
