This past Friday [Feb.25] a visiting team from Canada’s Mount Allison University took part in a swimming time trial along with local swimmers at the BASA Pool. Local swimmers Sophie Froud and Shannon Botelho successfully made the Carifta qualifying standards, to swell the team ranks to 12.  The Carifta Swimming Championships will be held in Barbados from April 23rd through April 26th, 2011.

National Swim Coach Ben Smith said “Sophie made her time in the 50 freestyle and then emphasized her ability and confidence by adding another in the 200 freestyle, whilst Shannon made his time in the 50 backstroke. The growing ability in the butterfly stroke was shown as both Emma Harvey in the 100 and Jesse Washington in the 50 met the AA time standard. ”
