Murder Trial: Jury Hears DNA Evidence
Yesterday [Mar.22] the eight woman four man jury heard gunshot residue expert A J Schwoeble and DNA expert Candy Zuleger give evidence in the Supreme Court murder trial of Antonio Myers.
30-year-old Kumi Harford was killed at around 5am on St. Monica’s Road on December 5th, 2009. Antonio Myers, 25, stands trial for the murder, charges which he denies. During the trial, a Police officer previously identified Mr Harford as a high ranking member of the 42nd gang, and the defendant Antonio Myers as a high-ranking member of the Middletown gang.
Experts previously testified that one of the guns used to kill Mr Harford had also been used in the murder of Kenwandee “Wheels” Robinson, who was fatally shot in the same area a few months prior.
Mr Schwoeble said that gunshot residue particles had been found on partly burnt items of clothing that had been sent to him for analysis. Ms Zuleger gave evidence that Mr Myer’s DNA was found on items of partly burnt clothing that had also been sent to her for analysis. Both sets of partly burnt clothing had come from Ms Janet Johnson, a crime scene reconstruction expert.
All the partly burnt items, consisting of a T-shirt, gloves, socks, black jeans, and Nike sneakers had been retrieved from a fire at #9 Middletown Lane, Pembroke. The jury had earlier learned that the fire had been discovered around 5:20am 5th December 2009 by a Police patrol made up of Sgt Ming, and PC’s Smalling and Trott. PC Trott had used a police car fire extinguisher to put out the fire and Sgt Ming had then called in to COMOPs. The police team remained in place to guard and preserve the fire scene.
As a result of the COMOPs call, a police Forensic Unit had attended the fire scene and, after completing their work, had collected the items found in the fire and sent them off to crime scene expert Ms Janet Johnson for initial analysis. Ms Johnson sent samples on to Schwoeble and Zuleger.
QC Jerome Lynch, defending Mr Myers, asked if there was other DNA on clothing items. Ms Zuleger agreed that there was but that Mr Myers DNA was the ‘major donor’. She explained that a major donor was someone more likely to have regularly worn an item and that minor DNA might come from someone frequently handling an item. However, DNA was not easily transferred or deposited by simple and occasional touch.
The case continues.

No. I don’t want them to get away with it, but if them are committing a crime, I would like to think that them would want to get away with it.
Now seriously, whats up with all you people taking issue with how someone spells…would you like to talk about your grammar?
Actually i do have children and if there are dumb enough to commit a crime, then yes i hope they are smart enough to get away with it…now lets talk about your kids…. LOL.
