Gunshots on Cedar Avenue: No Injuries

[Updated] There were multiple shots fired in the Cedar Avenue and Laffan Street area of Hamilton a short while ago this evening [Mar.25]. The Police are presently on scene, and have the area outside the Masjid Muhammad Mosque taped off. Although we have no official confirmation, we unofficially understand that no one appears to have been injured in this incident. Updates to follow…

Update 10:59pm: Police were seen marking off what appeared to be at least six specific areas on the ground by the junction of Cedar Avenue and Laffan Street, indictating that possibly around six shots may have been fired. There are approximately five Police cars on scene, with multiple officers.

Update 11:26pm: The Police are still on scene examining the area, and traffic is being diverted. It appears it may have been up to eight shots fired going by markers:

Update 11:32pm: Unofficial reports from bystanders coming in indicate that the shooter[s] were on a bike, and appeared to be firing at another individual[s] also on a bike. That is a sketchy report as people said it all happened so fast, but the general gist of the unofficial reports was that it appeared that two bikes were moving along the area, and shots were fired.

Update 11:45pm: Official Police statement:

Around 10:20pm on Friday, March 25th 2011 Police responded to a confirmed firearm incident at the junction of Cedar Avenue & Laffan Street in Pembroke. Details are unclear at this time; however there have been no reported injuries.
An active investigation into this incident is underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011 or the independent, confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline on 800-8477.

Update 12:05am: There has either been a second shooting tonight, or someone was shot in the Cedar Avenue shooting and rode away from the scene, as it appears that a shooting victim has just been loaded into an ambulance in the Parsons Road, Pembroke area.
