Sick Crew Member: Tanker Ship Diverting

MAERSK_MERIDIAN The Danish flagged tanker ship Maersk Meridian [pictured] is diverting to Bermuda this weekend after a medical emergency on board

Crew aboard the ship spoke to Bermuda Harbour Radio just before noon yesterday [Apr.23], while 624 nautical miles north east of Bermuda.

The crew reported that the 51-year-old second engineer was suffering abdominal pains for two days.

The ship, which was traveling from the UK to Texas, will meet a local pilot boat at approx 10am tomorrow morning to transfer the sick crewman, who will be brought ashore to receive medical treatment at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
