Nahki Wells Not Offered New Contract

May 3, 2011

nahki wellsCarlisle United manager Greg Abbott has informed Bermudian football player Nahki Wells that he will not be renewing his contract at the end of this season.

The former Dandy Town Hornets striker signed a short-term contract with Carlisle United in January 2011 following a successful trial period with the club and made three appearances from the bench during the second half of this season.

Mr Abbott said: “It’s always horrible to have to tell a young man that he won’t be getting a contract. It’s even worse when it’s a genuine and likeable lad like him.”

“What we have had to do is look to next season and make a decision, however tough that may be, and the decision on this occasion is that we have to let them move on.

“Wells is a very hard worker and a pleasure to have around, but sometimes you have to do what you think is best for the players involved and for the club.

“We will make sure that we do everything we can to help him find something else, and he will go with our very best wishes.”
