Catherine Cooke Wins Gold In Canada

catherine cook bermuda tennisTeenage Bermudian tennis player Catherine Cooke has won gold in one of the most competitive Canadian schools tennis tournaments.

On Wednesday [June 1] Ms Cooke took home the gold medal for high school girls singles in the [Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations[OFSSA] Tennis Championship.

The tournament was a 3 day affair pitting the best players from all schools in the Province of Ontario against each other to determine the champion.

Ms Cooke is in her final year at Trinity College School in Port Hope, Ontario and was the top seed in the championship, having convincingly won the qualifying tournament of the Ontario Independent Schools Conference a few weeks earlier.

After receiving a bye in the first round of the this week’s championship, she won the following 3 matches handily before taking the gold in a hard fought final played in blustery conditions.
