Minister Promotes Bermuda At New York Events
The Minister of Business Development and Tourism Patrice Minors is currently in New York to participate in a series of events this week aimed at reinforcing Bermuda’s reputation as a premier leisure and business destination.
Later today [June 8], Minister Minors will attend a luncheon being hosted by Brides Magazine, where she will officially accept an award from the publication on behalf of Bermuda.
In March this year, based on a survey conducted by the magazine, Bermuda ranked sixth among the world’s top 20 honeymoon destinations. Brides Magazine is considered the most widely read wedding publication.
Of the award, Minister Minor said, “This recognition is extremely gratifying as it reflects the respected opinion of not only a leading national magazine such as Brides, but also top travel professionals whose jobs are to help couples find the perfect destination to begin their new lives together.”
Tomorrow Minister Minors will address the inaugural Invest Caribbean Power Forum at the New York Marriott Marquis hotel in Time Square.
The title of the event is called “Investing In Paradise”, and Minister Minors will join other panelists which include, Martin Mohabeer, the Managing Director of Spackman Group and CEO of Spackman Capital; W. Dave Dowrich, Vice President at Goldman Sachs, and David Brillembourg, CEO of the Brilla Group.
Minister Minors said, “We feel this is an outstanding forum for us to share the message with an influential audience that Bermuda is ready, willing and able to provide meaningful and mutually beneficial investment opportunities. We are already seeing positive signs for development and know that events such as this one can help showcase Bermuda as an extremely attractive partner.”
The investment event is being co-presented by digital media company Hard Beat Communications and The Caribbean Tourism Organization.
“Investing in Paradise”…..
Get serious.
Paradise Lost seems more like it.
And for Gods sake…….were not in the “Caribbean”….
We may have ties but jingus………
Can you read? Nowhere in this story does it say that we are a part of the Caribbean?
Read / do some research online and learn more about the CTO.
Yes I can read 411.
If were not in the “Caribbean” why should we “invest”. That was my point. Thanks for spinning it. But thats what youi do best…..”411″…your nothing more than an “area code”.
We know it’s frustrating for you Terry that Bermuda continues to be linked as a part of the Caribbean. It’s equally frustrating for many of us that Bermuda continues to be tied to England, and there in lies our confused state of mind.
Because being “tied to England” disadvantages you how…..?
Come on Sand, what has England done for us recently? Not a damn thing other than drain everything they can get out of us.
hmmm…what has “England drained out of us…”?
Bob, you can be no farther from the truth with that statement. We have many cultrual ties with the Caribbean, fact. We have many ties with England, fact. As for being frustrated, those are your words. I couldn’t give a crap. I don’t care
Don’t paint me with a brush that you use to make scene for others. I have my Mona Lisa. All you have is paid for etch scketch………
U.S. Indians are linked to India. U.S. West Indians are linked to the caribbean. U.S. Portuguese are linked to Portugal . All these citizens are Americans. Bermudians are linked to the same areas and all are Bermudians. Then you have the pure citizens like the Hicks from the hick towns, and the Onions from the, well, all over Bermuda. NONE RULE! Just the Country.
Oh…as a follow up CTO stands for ‘Count Tourism Out’.
It would be nice for a change to see some positive or constructive comments being published. Is there a specific reason you want to be set apart from the Caribbean and England? The article above illustrates how the Minister is participating in events “aimed at reinforcing Bermuda’s reputation as a premier leisure and business destination”. Leisure destinations are usually associated with the Caribbean, hence it would make sense that she is participating in events “linked” to the Caribbean. It seems like a no brainer to me.
Just as an aside to you Terry, the education standards in the Caribbean, specifically in the West Indies, are of a very high standard. Chances are the grammar of someone educated in West Indies would not be nearly as off as yours.
Birmyooda is not in the Karribean. Ann mi grandma has nuffin to doo wiff it. Detz why yoo leeve hin annudar virld….gat ah lief…
Congratulations to Minister of Tourism Patrice Minors for attending these healthy pursuits touting Bermuda as a Paradise Island I personally view Bermuda …with my rose colored glasses……I think we have a wonderful international destination by any standards great records obviously ….somebody agrees with me.!…raising the bar…yes…..!We just have to go back to Bermuda Right Minded Thinking and what we used to Promote…. The Talbot Brothers and others like them almost single handedly promoted Bermuda… too many good thinking Bermudians over the years to record …promoting ..Bermuda as another World (with our rose colored glasses on)We just have to pull the weeds up in Bermuda and plant those positive minded good mental seeds in this Garden Paradise of ours so we can now all sing..Proud to be Bermudian….instead of walking around with our heads hung down wearing the dark shades of doom and gloom saying…we cant change nuthin…..! a’int nuthin changing….we can’t win nuthin…..winning hearts and winning spirits and winning minds can change anything.!Just get on the right side as they say ….the good foot.!…….things are changing faster than you think…in the right direction……keep up the good work Minister Minors ..Right Minded Bermudian..!
Any event that involves an award is suspect. How many such events have benefitted Bermuda, as opposed to inflate the ego of a Minister and their entourage travelling to collect an award? Seems the PLP will carry on firing Bermudians while the champagne and caviar flows for the select few.
