Police Pursue Men: Object Thrown At Bus

June 12, 2011

This past Friday [June 10] two men on a motorcycle followed a bus from the Hamilton bus station, threw an object at the bus in Paget, and then escaped from the Police leaving the stolen motorcycle they were on behind.

The Police chased the suspects from St. Paul’s Lane in Paget to the ‘S’ Hill, Ord Road Paget area, and were seen out in high numbers on Friday night searching the area. Unsubstantiated and unofficial reports coming into to Bernews indicate that the pillion passenger may have been in possession of an object that resembled a weapon, however the Police have not officially indicated that to be the case at this time.

A Police spokesman said, “Around 5pm on Friday, police responded to a report of two males on a motorcycle following a bus. Officers located the bus involved stationary along route #7 in the area of South Road and St. Paul’s Lane in Paget.”

“It appears that two young men on a motorcycle followed the #7 bus from the Washington Street, Pembroke terminal and en route an object was thrown at the bus.”

“As a result, the bus driver stopped the bus near St. Paul’s Lane. While officers were at the scene the suspects rode past and were pursued to the ‘S’ Hill, Ord Road Paget area where they managed to make good their escape on foot.”

“The motorcycle the suspects were on, which turned out to be stolen, was seized. A further search of the area by officers with the assistance of a K9 unit did not locate the offenders.”

“Inquiries into this incident are ongoing and anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.”
