Bermuda Pacers & Devonshire Colts Return
Both the Bermuda Pacers Track Club and Devonshire Colts U/14 football team returned home last night [July 26], with both teams having experienced very successful competitions in the United States. The Pacers finished 2nd out of 120 teams, picking up a combined 26 medals; while the Colts won 3 of 4 games in an international tournament.
The Bermuda Pacers attended the three-day Russell E. Blunt East Coast Invitational in North Carolina. The athletes competed in temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, still managing to win a combined 26 medals and finish 2nd overall out of 120 teams. The Bermuda Pacers won 10 Gold, 6 Silver and 10 Bronze medals.
The Devonshire Colts Under 14 team also returned from a very successful appearance at the Schwans USA Cup International Tournament in Minnesota. The annual tournament attracts over 1,000 teams from 18 different countries.
The Devonshire Colts won an impressive 3 of 4 games; beating teams from Brazil, Ecuador and the USA, losing their last and final game to a Brazilian team.
The Bermuda Pacers finished 25th in the Intermediate Women’s Division, won the Women’s Youth Group Division with 66 points, and finished T3rd in the Women’s Midget Division with 30 points. The Pacers finished 6th in the Women’s Batman Division with 17 points.
The Bermuda Pacers finished 3rd in the Young Men’s Division with 30 points, they also finished 3rd in the Men’s Intermediate Division. They also finished 3rd in the Men’s Midget Division with 33 points, while finishing 4th in the Sub-Bantam Division with 33 points.
