Bermuda Pacers: Four Golds In North Carolina

The first day of the 2011 Russell E. Blunt East Coast Invitational at Duke University in North Carolina saw the Bermuda Pacers pick up four Gold medals.

Justin Donawa won the Intermediate Boys Triple Jump with a leap of 14.03m, while Elisha Darrell won the Boys High Jump leaping 1.52m.

With a time of 11:30.32 Zakiyyah Showers won the Gold Medal in the Youth Girls 3000 Meter Run, while Juma Mouchette won the Gold Medal in the Young Men 3000 Meter Run clocking 9:40.98.

Tyrone Oswald finished 9th with a leap of 12.57m in the Young Men Triple Jump, while Darra Powell-Burgess recorded the fourth fastest time in reaching the Bantam Boys 200 Meter Dash Final clocking 31.80.

Zekiah Lewis finished 13th with a time of 31.08, while One Hart finished 21st clocking 32.21 during the Bantam Girls 200 Meter Dash Preliminaries. Sajan Harvey reached the finals with the eight fastest qualifying time of 30.39 and Ryan Outerbridge finished 14th with a time of 32.15 in the Bantam Boys 200 Meter Dash.

Both Anasia Barclay and Zariah Simmons reached the Midget Girls 200 Meter Dash Final, Barclay finished 3rd in the preliminaries with a time of 27.56 and Simmons clocked 28.43.

Competing in the Midget Boys 200 Meter Dash Rahzir Jones finished 12th with a time of 29.00, while in the Youth Girls 200 Meter Dash Azaire Smith reached the finals with the fifth fastest time of 26.54, Jaymie Darrell finished 15th with a time of 27.27.

Kyle Webb will compete in the Intermediate Boys 200 Meter Dash after finishing third with a time of 22.68, while Kidane Callendar finished 12th with a time of 23.47.

Thirty–five members of the Bermuda Pacers Track club are competing in the meet, which concludes tomorrow [July 24]. The event normally attracts about 2,500 athletes from across the East Coast.
