Deunte Darrell Fit For Cup Match After Accident
Somerset cricket player – and last year’s MVP – Deunte Darrell has been declared fit for the 2011 Cup Match Classic, after he was involved in a bike accident on Monday evening [July 25] on his way to the Cup Match event at Botanical Gardens.
The 2010 Cup Match MVP and Top Scorer sustained abrasions to both hands and on his arms, however after consultations with the trainers and physio at the Somerset Cricket Club, Mr Darrell has now been cleared to suit up for the Cup Match Classic, which starts tomorrow [July 28].
A right-hand batsman and medium-pace bowler, Mr Darrell started playing cricket at the age of ten. He has represented Bermuda internationally at the Under-15 and Under-19 levels and was part of our squad for the U-19 World Cup in 2008.
He is making his third Cup Match appearance, after making his debut in 2009 at only 16-years-old, becoming one of the youngest players to ever make an appearance in the history of the Classic.
Mr Darrell will be joined on the 2011 Somerset Cup Match Team by Jekon Edness [Captain], Stephen Outerbridge [Vice Captain], Dion Stovell, Terryn Fray, Janeiro Tucker, Malachi Jones, Joshua Gilbert, Kamau Leverock, Kevin Hurdle and Jacobi Robinson.
