Former BDA Deputy Governor Reappointed
Mr Mark Andrew Capes served as Bermuda’s Deputy Governor from 2006 until 2009 when our present Deputy Governor David Arkley filled his position. Since 2009, Mr. Capes has been serving as Chief Executive of the Turks and Caicos Islands Government.
He has now been appointed Her Majesty’s Governor of St Helena, Ascension Island and Tristan da Cunha.
He will succeed Mr Andrew Gurr who will be retiring. Mr Capes will take up his appointment during October 2011.
On his appointment as Her Majesty’s Governor of St Helena, Mr Capes said: “I am delighted to have been given this exciting opportunity to serve as Governor for the people of St Helena, Ascension Island and Tristan da Cunha at such an important juncture in the history of the islands.”
“I look forward to working for a secure and prosperous future for the islands and to getting to know those who live and work on them.”
Your boy must have some boasty skills!
Interesting! Let’s not forget what has been going on down in T&C. British administration following allegations that a few old boys ran off with the treasury. Very interesting…..
Hey, and remember that $500 MILLION we borrowed to pay off all the money that went missing, or, err… was overspent? Well, we ended up paying 5.6% and PLP told us what a great deal that was, etc etc. Well, Italy just borrowed AT THE HIGHEST RECORDED PRICES FOR THIS MARKET (in other words, more or less junk bonds) and is paying 5.9%. Not much in it, eh?
So, who’s been lying?
Sorry, reverse the rates: Bermuda 5.9 Italy 5.6
The Queen has sent him Island Hopping, He is still close to Bermuda should the need arise.
