The Loren Group Acquires Elbow Beach Hotel
The Loren Group has announced its acquisition of the Elbow Beach Hotel, saying their ”vision is to rejuvenate this esteemed property, blending its storied past with The Loren’s signature style to create an unparalleled destination.”
According to a press release, “The Loren Group is delighted to announce the acquisition of the iconic Elbow Beach Hotel and Fritholme Garden Residences in Bermuda, a landmark property situated on Bermuda’s picturesque southern shore.
“This strategic acquisition underscores The Loren’s commitment to expanding its luxury hospitality and residential footprint and enhancing Bermuda’s hospitality landscape. The Loren at Pink Beach, which opened in 2017, has been the marquee, luxury property in Bermuda, raising the bar for contemporary hospitality on the island.”
“We are honored to take ownership of the historic Elbow Beach Resort, a property that holds a special place in Bermuda’s rich cultural and hospitality heritage. Our vision is to rejuvenate this esteemed property, blending its storied past with The Loren’s signature style to create an unparalleled destination for both locals and visitors,” says Stephen King, CEO & Founder of The Loren Group.
“This deal is a testament to our dedication to Bermuda and the opportunity we see for continued growth as a luxury hospitality brand. We would like to thank all those involved in the transaction including Butterfield Bank, EY, Rego Sotheby’s International Realty, and the Government of Bermuda and look to many more years of doing business in Bermuda.”
The spokesperson said, “The Elbow Beach Resort, which has remained closed since early 2020, has been a beloved fixture in Bermuda for over a century. The Loren Group plans to undertake a comprehensive redevelopment of the property. Detailed plans will be shared in the coming months and will deliver a world class mix of luxury real estate, an expansion of the Loren Hotel, restaurants, member and wellness facilities, reflecting the brand’s “uncompromising by nature” ethos. In addition to providing new opportunities for ownership in Bermuda, this new project will create significant employment opportunities to support the local economy. The Loren Elbow Beach will participate in the brand’s Roots Initiative, a program designed to capture carbon through biodiverse reafforestation.
“This acquisition builds on The Loren Group’s continued success and growth, with a portfolio that includes the award-winning Loren at Pink Beach in Bermuda, The Loren at Lady Bird Lake in Austin, and the upcoming Loren at Turtle Cove in Turks & Caicos, set to open in 2026. This is good news.
I hope the old hotel can be salvaged and renovated. It holds special memories for me.
Hold onto the memories. Unfortunately the main hotel will have to come down, rotted wooden frame and asbestos.
A room should be kept for Joe Bloggs. Please.
Hopefully it will not be priced out of local’s reach.
Figure out the cost. Knocking it all down to rebuilding with today’s fire and safety standards and expectations of guests. Locals want welfare but have no trouble finding money for their carnival outfits; having birthday dinners at restaurants or parking shows way over $60. And uf you worked there and they paid you less because they had local low prices , you would be the first to complain lije my friend who had had 4 cruises already this year. He gets discounts but never has to pause when the prices are high. He just goes. So yes prices wo reflect the cost if building and what it offers. Start saving now. Or you want financial assistance help. You can’t make this stuff up. The main key is labour. Ive been to meetings where our foreign workers have the stats on what labour is needed. Meanwhile Bermudians are shooting each other, disrespecting our roads , floating from job to job but will still expect a job at South P and Loren and cheap rooms.
Joe. I can ask them to keep the land lines and elevator that got stock as they have memories for me along with the outdoor toilets. Enjoy your memories and realize it is a very very competitive market bda against the world.
