Minister Lightbourne Meets With BELCO & RA
“As part of the Ministry’s ongoing pledge to engage key industry stakeholders within its remit, the Minister of Home Affairs Alexa Lightbourne recently held productive meetings with the senior leadership of BELCO and the Regulatory Authority [RA],” the government said.
A Government spokesperson said, “”During her meeting with BELCO, Minister Lightbourne received a comprehensive overview of the company’s operations and strategic direction.
“Discussions included BELCO’s role in Bermuda’s energy infrastructure, grid stability, and investments. She emphasized the need for transparency, efficiency, and the inclusion of the public interest in decision-making, underscoring that the well-being of Bermuda’s residents must be central to our energy transition.
“Following the meeting, the Minister and the Ministry’s technical team toured BELCO’s generation plant and facilities to deepen their understanding of the utility’s operations.
“Minister Lightbourne also met with the Board and operational leadership of the Regulatory Authority. Their discussions focused on the RA’s oversight responsibilities in both the energy and electronic communications sectors, how to strengthen regulatory transparency, and increase stakeholder and public confidence.”
Minister Lightbourne said, “Our Ministry team had constructive meetings with both BELCO and the RA. I’m grateful for their openness and we will now chart a course forward that supports the people of Bermuda.
“As outlined in the Throne Speech, our Government is committed to reducing the rising cost of living and strengthening consumer protections. That is our Ministry’s unwavering focus, and we look forward to advancing the policies and legislative reforms that will have a meaningful impact.”
The Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Home Affairs now comprises Consumer Affairs, the Land Title Registry Office, the Department of Energy, and the Regulatory Authority.
“As stated in the 2025 Throne Speech, the Ministry’s expanded remit includes key priorities such as:
- Stabilizing energy costs and promoting Bermuda’s clean energy transition;
- Addressing the rising cost of essential goods; and
- Advancing policies that safeguard consumers and reforming regulatory oversight to ensure transparency.
“The Ministry’s stakeholder engagements will continue in the weeks ahead. The next planned meeting is with the Department of Energy, where the focus will be on the recently announced Energy Policy Steering Committee [EPSC] and policy development.”

. This latest on going attempt at inflation is designed to enhance the riches of the wealthy.

If B.E.L.Co is on the ball am confident that they are buying fuel at the best price possable, as no body in the right mind throws money away i can imagine the Bermudiana beach power bill will be a big one using more fuel .
Byden and his labor Government was using the countries reserves.
I can be blunt as the whole debacle is a money scam that is designed to impact and to hit the less fortunate and the silent majority and seniors.

I am in the process of doing a pie chart right here on Bernews and similar to a clock face, it will have 12 quadrants just like a clock face has to it , which i can reduce down to 4 sections just to see where the money goes .
The entire 12 section can be enlarged if you want to get complicated with the nitty gritty the end result will show and be the same that is every thing all of you have been talking about .
The Government has got to give us some of our money back from the fund.
The alternate will leave the voter an non voter they are tax payer too ,in a very sad state of affairs
let me tell where the first quarter or 15 minute of the pie chart will go, to those who get un earned income .
Another chunk goes to taxation ,a pile goes to transportation, another goes to private and government debt .

In oder to get through this inflation the above pie chart chart is no good to you, it is just a idea which you will put into a position.
Simply because you have to creat you own expence pie chart account according to your own total family income and budget.
Do no for get monthly rent or mortgage payments

Keep your debit car in your pocket to avoid the temptation of using it or only use one debit card per family , if not things will get out of control.
if you play your cards right there may be some thing left at the end of the month that goes as untouchable in savings.
Once a month you will have an in~ house a strict family board meeting to review the pie chart.

For that use your cell phone calculator to devide you total monthy income on paper by 30 for daily or 4 for weekly you may set aside be one day income to go to saving ,try for two day if you can to your savings .

Make a list by naming of all your family expenses the list will be long, give every on a sheet of paper for that from theirs which you will make a master list.
Place an amount , right or wrong against each named expence which an should be and can be amended .
Take food for example add up your total monthly food from saved bills allo of them and list it as monthly food expences .
Annual bills like Insureance and TCD those amounts you must put to one side if not you will need to catch the buss which should be free to every one .
OBJECT
The object of the pie chart is to have strict control of your family income.
You will need to account for every penny.
The sad part is you can not deviate from the pie chart if you tinker with the pie chart you will have to borrow from the first intem in the list your savings.

To make this exercise work you are going to try to cut back on every thing on you pie chart list listed with a view to increasing you rsavings .
If the pie chart does not work out for you >>> failures are anticipated <<< and there are shortages and overages in accounting.

According to our Premier and Minister of Finance, our retail price inflation is consistently lower than that of the U.S., U.K., or Canada.
Bermuda must be the economic envy of the world!
Why is the Ministry of Home Affairs intent on ‘stabilizing energy costs’? That is the last thing we want. We have the highest consumer electricity prices in the world, and oil prices have fallen to their lowest in years.
Any fool could keep the prices ‘stable’. We want them reduced dramatically to something more reasonable.
Just another example of the inept leadership of the PLP.

Time has come for i hope not over due for families to manage and control their own income it woud be great to get everybody on board with that pie chart.

Alocations are done to a pie charts on big projects when building houses failing that projects sink beneath the waves .
Never lost one yet.
Projets fail when practical or theoritical change orders are omitted .
Things will get to an all time low when chrismass gifts come wrapped in brown paper .
You may have noticed I put family saving at he top of the list that is the insentive.

As I have said many times, the PLP Government does not want to hear from me. I am a white male baby boomer. People like me are to be vilified, not listened to.
And then there is the problem of accurate data. It is economically impossible for Bermuda’s retail price inflation rate to be consistently lower than that of the U.S., U.K., or Canada, the countries from which we import the vast majority of consumer goods.
I cannot be expected to offer a practical solution to a real problem if I am only told lies about problem (the retail price inflation).
