HSBC Pro Soccer Clinic Graduates

[Updated with video] Eight of Bermuda’s promising young soccer players graduated today [July 15] from the week long HSBC School of Excellence Programme, managed by Professional MISL player and coach, David Bascome.

The eight players were selected to participate in the programme based on their leadership qualities, positive attitude and superior work rate displayed during the HSBC Pro Soccer Clinic, which took place a week prior. This year’s chosen students are: Ardon Heyliger, Benjamin Barnett, Calon Minors, Jared Ruddock, Mateo Isaac, Patrick O’connell, Ryan Parris, Shomuri Simons.

The HSBC School of Excellence graduates were acknowledged in the presence of the HSBC Pro Soccer, Bridge to Success participants. The graduates expanded their skills both on and off the field by taking classes, gaining work experience and soccer training every day.

David Bascome said; “Today’s graduates have showcased to their peers the results of their work experience which included developing a marketing plan for Hope 4 Life, an initiative against drug abuse and gang violence. The HSBC School of Excellence students also worked along side coaches to discover what it takes to manage the HSBC Pro Soccer Clinic.”

Khari Sharrieff, HSBC representative, congratulated each and every one of the HSBC School of Excellence participants for successfully completing a difficult and challenging week of training and expressed hope that they will continue to be positive leaders amongst their peers. He said, “I am confident that all of these participants will not only walk away from this programme stronger, fitter and more confident in their soccer playing ability but with a greater regard for teamwork and community spirit.”
