Yesterday [July 13], Senator Craig Cannonier, OBA Shadow Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry voiced his party’s support of the Fisheries Amendment Act 2011 while also highlighting some concerns.

The Act which passed in the Senate yesterday will increase the maximum possible fine for violations to $50,000.

Senator Cannonier said, “We in the OBA whole heartily support this act. It is important that we protect our waters.”

The Senator went on to say, “One of the other concerns of this, is the Policing of the Fisheries. The great concern is that this is a very very difficult industry to Police.”

And the purpose of putting this up here is what. Really I want to know.

  2. LOL says:

The imposters are trying to dope the voters … we can’t be fooled by them. Definately can’t vote OBA never! PLP never voted for you guys but unless some independant minds come forward, better the devil you know thank the devil you don’t, especially the O ld B oys A ssociation devils that are proven liars.

    • LOL (original) says:

Funny you take my name and call others liars. Get a life the PLP are just as much a bunch of liars as any political group on this island. You ment to say that you would only ever vote for the PLP cause you like being raped by someone you know. Change your name to Blind Vote. It’s your type of talk that kills political growth in this country. This isn’t a school yard but you do sound like the nerd scared to go agaisnt your grades bully.

      LOL

  3. lol says:

Never voted PLP but they may just be the party to vote for due to the fact that the OBA does not hold water. Can’s trust turncoats. say Never to OBA

  4. through the lens says:

  5. Ganja mon says:

A stupid law to screw someone’s life up. Bermuda is not goin to Make a type of fish extinct. Smh

    • Bottom Line says:

Bermuda has every ability of destroying a fish stock. If Bermuda did not protect the breading areas of the Bermuda Grouper, that specie would be wiped out. And the same goes with other Bermuda fish specie.

    • My two cents says:

Given your name on this forum, I would think that you would be pro-environment. The world does not exist so that man can pillage, plunder, and rape everything possible in a lifetime. It exists to sustain all people and animals. Remember, it is the PEOPLE that are overpopulated, NOT the animals. We need population control more than anything else

  6. NO OBA says:

and he thinks he can be leader – OBA is in between a rock and a hard place. Put this guy who does not have a clue, or the monopoly milk rich man “the Dunk” or keep the fence sitter Barritt – ask anyone who have had working dealings with John, he can’t make a decision to save his life. Lets continue down the list – Grant is too Gibbons to lead, Richards nothing like his father, too uppity for the common man, Pamplin – too close to bad baggage, Moniz, who the hell would follow him? Cole Simons – disney already have Micky and Goofy – Pettingil, he’s too busy defending the guilty rascals. Crockwell – just NO; Louise – nice senior lady but she needs her rest. Fahy, opportunist and foe of the union – no blue colour vote.

    • Justin says:

Or we can vote for the cog who has destroyed Bermuda’s economy. I’ll be voting for the “old guard” – a party that invented Bermuda’s financial success once upon a time. I’d take Bob Richards as Finance Minister over Paula Cox anyday. Paula couldn’t hold a candle next to Bob Richards when it comes to finance.

    • LOL (original) says:

Much could be said about the PLP MP’s as well guess you have a selective memory.

      LOL

    • My two cents says:

Remember, it was the uppity Mr. Richards that WARNED the PLP to tighten its belt because the recession could indeed hit Bermuda. They dismissed him as fear mongering and they still have you believing that the debt is okay cause its not as bad as other countries. The minister of finance allowed the continued spending spree until it literally hit them right in the face. Regardless of personal feeling I know who I would trust at the wheels of the finance department without a doubt. Someone that is actually knowledgeable on the global economy, not someone who likes to spend money that does not exist.

  7. Wooooooow! says:

Here’s an idead!! HIRE MORE PEOPLE… GIVE BERMUDIAN PEOPLE JOBS! 3 Wardens, 1 Supervisor and 1 Boat??? STFU honestly. If you can’t see the problem there then how are you going to run a country!?

    • One Boat? says:

What happened to that blow-up boat Col. Burch got? Is the regiment really using it? If so, could they help? Here’s an exercise…jump in the blow-up boat and find fishermen, then ask them for their licenses and also ensure they are fishing in approved fishing grounds. Just pray the fishing hooks don’t pop the boat.

  8. Ouch says:

The OBA is a real joke…

OBA: “We’re tired of the PLP and UBP, they both are as bad as the other! Lets for our own party!”
    [OBA forms]
Bermuda: “That’s interesting. An alternative to both parties, this might keep everyone on the straight and narrow.”
    OBA: “We are the alternative!”
UBP: “The OBA is taking voters from us, we are irrelevant”
    [UBP goes poof]
OBA: “Hey UBP come join us”
    Bermuda: “Never mind”
