Aspiring Chef Jonathan Lowe Gets $1,000 Boost
Skal International Bermuda presented Jonathan Lowe with a cheque for $1,000 towards his continued education at Johnson & Wales University, where he is studying at their North Miami Campus in Culinary Arts and Food & Beverage Management.
Mr Lowe, a young Bermudian who intends to pursue a career in the hospitality industry, has been working at the St. George’s Club’s “Griffin’s Bistro” and “Blackbeard’s Hideout” for the summer while on recess. His employer has also contributed to his tuition fees.
Current president of Skal International Bermuda Leslie Veney [right] and club treasurer Karen Cooper-Olsen were on hand to present the cheque to Mr Lowe.
“Skal International Bermuda is delighted to support Mr. Lowe in his efforts to get established in the hospitality industry”, said Ms Veney. “This is exactly the sort of individual we need to be entering our industry. We hope he does well in his studies, and realises his dream of having his own restaurant here in Bermuda”.
Speaking for his employers, CEO of St George’s Club, and a past president of Skal International Bermuda, Sally Woolf Kyle, said “Jonathan has been a great asset to the St. George’s Club and we are all happy to help him in a small way”. She added, “we also hope to see him back working with us during the Christmas holidays”.
Skal International Bermuda is part of the North American Alliance of SKAL Clubs (NAASC – comprising Canada, Mexico, the United States, the Caribbean, and Bermuda).
