Concert Fundraiser For Accident Victim

Dion Ford (1)A special birthday fundraising event will celebrate the life of a recent accident victim. Dion Ford and his best friend, Lonario Simmons, survived a serious accident on Father’s Day.

Mr. Ford who will be celebrating his birthday on August 19, was flown overseas for surgery and treatment. He began his hospitalization at Mass General and Spalding Rehabilitation in Boston.

On Saturday August 13th at Whitney Institute School Hall, CKC Corporation will host the second “Spotlight for a Cause” event to assist Dion Ford medical expenses.

Over 100 people have come together to perform, organize, promote and manage the special events for Dion. The first of four “Spotlight for a Cause” events was in July.

Mr. Ford’s family, other attendees and performers applauded the event. Each event features extraordinary local talents including gospel, reggae, hip-hop, dance and three genres of singing (gospel, reggae and R&B).

The upcoming Saturday evening event is entitled Spotlight for a Cause “Stage Leads” and will feature numerous local artists such as Sia Spence, Maurita Andre, Zion, Kombat and the III Kings, Freddie Mallory, Seventh-Day Adventist Choir and BLAC.

To make the event special for Dion’s birthday, the Bermuda Gombeys will perform. The doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show will promptly begin at 7:30 p.m.

Several community businesses have sponsored the four events, including Hott 1075, Barritts, Dunkley’s, Whitney Institute, BGA, Kit & Caboodle and Butterfield and Vallis.

Other community individuals or entities who have donated their time are all of the artists and hosts, tech persons, Chewstick Foundation, over forty volunteers and the staff of CKC Corporation. Advance ticket price is $10 for children and adults $15 at Kit & Caboodle right now.
