Lionel Cann Wins Cup Match ‘Safe Hands’ Award
[Updated with video] Lionel Cann was selected as the 2011 Cup Match Classic Safe Hands Award Winner, and presented with his award, $1,000 and two airline tickets this morning [Aug.1].
He won the Calvin “Bummy’ Symonds Trophy for his brilliant catch that saw him run some 30 yards from his mid-off position to dismiss Somerset Cricket Club’s Malachi Jones without scoring in the first innings.
In addition to the Calvin “Bummy” Symonds Cup, Mr Cann also collected a $1,000 cash prize, two round trip tickets to one of the gateway cities and a new playing kit. Presented by Black Star Communications, the Cup Match Classic Safe Hands Award is now in its 14th year.
