National Academy U15s Attend Training Camp

The National Academy U15 cricket squad is currently taking part in a three-day training camp run by National Coach, David Moore, in preparation for the ICC U15 Americas Northern Division Championship in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, August 21 – August 26, 2011.

David Moore, National Coach states, “The aim of the training camp is to help prepare our U15 players for the upcoming ICC Americas Regional Northern Division Championship.”

“The team will be facing USA and Canada in this double round robin 40 over tournament and the players will need to be at the top of their game to bring home the trophy.”

Coach Moore continued, “During the camp Dr. Rudy Alleyne will work with the players on their physical fitness focusing on improving their cardio vascular, strength, power, flexibility and core stability.”

“In addition, the team will spend time with Education Manager, Ashley Da Costa, from the Bermuda Sport Anti-doping Authority who educates athletes on the Prohibited List and the health risks associated with using supplements and banned items.”

“Arlene Andrews, Nutritionist will education the players on how their nutritional choices optimizes their athletic performance and gives them a lifetime of health benefits.”

“I will be working in conjunction with U15 Coach Lorenzo Tucker and due to the fact that coach Grant Smith isn’t avaible due to work commitments, with the boys to improve their technique and game scenarios, which should develop their ability to read the game and react to pressured situations as they arise.”

“There will be a strong focus on running between the wickets and fielding which to win these tournament is of the highest order.”

“In conclusion, I would like to thank The Argo Foundation for their support of the BCB National Academy which services boys and girls from the age of 9 through to the senior level.”

“The BCBNA program has been designed to provide elite young cricketers of Bermuda the opportunity to develop life skills and cricket skills, knowledge and understanding to enhance their performance and provide opportunities for them to play at a first class or International level.”

BCB National Academy Team: Antonio Darrell (Capt.), Christion Gibbons-Wade, Alex Dore, Janhoi Bean-Wilson, Delray Rawlins, Joshua Commissiong, Demiko James, Joshua Liyanage, Detre Bell, Keishun Smith, Cejay Outerbridge, Khalif Williams, Cameron Gordon and Micah Perozzi.
