Hamilton Trenching Work Postponed

September 9, 2011

The Reid Street trenching work scheduled to start on Tuesday September 6, has been postponed due to the strong winds and rain associated with Hurricane Katia, and will now begin on Saturday September 10.

The trenching will start at the Queen and Reid Streets intersection and move east to Burnaby Street. In order to minimize the impact to motorists and pedestrians, the work will be completed in 60 foot sections. This will ensure traffic moves smoothly in the area while the work is being carried out.

Parking on the street will be temporarily affected while the trenching takes place.Additionally, a number of roads in the city will be closed on Sunday September 11, between 7:30am and 11:00am to facilitate the Bermuda Bicycle Association Race.

Am I the only one that was annoyed at the sheer lack of planning shown by planning to do trench work during the day on the first week of school!?! Good thing mother nature came and knocked some sense into you or else traffic would have been backed up to Dockyard! Stop being cheap and pay your workers to dig up the road at night!!

@RealityCheck I was thinking the same thing when I read this. Like come on, what are you thinking?! Traffic is crazy on a normal day!
