Commonwealth Youth Games Gets Underway

DSCN0433Bermuda participated in the Commonwealth Youth Games opening ceremonies last night [Sept.8] at the Isle of Man National Sports Centre.

Team Bermuda was lead into the stadium by cyclist Dominique Mayho as flag bearer. Mayho’s cousin, gymnast Sydney Mason was part of an international group that later in the ceremony brought in the CYG flag.

Competition for Bermuda starts today in the four sports being represented by local athletes; athletics, gymnastics, swimming and cycling. Eight athletes will represent Bermuda in four sports.

Bruce DeGrilla, Scott Clarke, Akeila Richardson and Kyle Webb will compete in Athletics, Tre-Shun Correia and Dominique Mayho will compete in Cycling, Nicholas Patterson will compete in Swimming and Sydney Mason will compete in Gymnastics.
